Mairi Campbell: Pulse

Made in Scotland Showcase logo

Pulse is Mairi’s story of her musical homecoming.

From rejecting her classical training to travelling through Mexico and Cape Breton, where she discovers Scottish traditions that have become lost in the ‘old country’, a personal and musical journey unfolds, taking her away from home in order to discover where she really belongs.

Mairi’s grounded and compelling performance weaves viola, voice, animation, and movement. Deeply touching, funny, and potent.

Co-devised and directed by Kath Burlinson, with original music by Mairi Campbell and Dave Gray as featured in the album Pulse.

Pulse was showcased in Edinburgh in 2015 and at Celtic Connections in 2016. In 2016, the show ran for a full month at the Fringe to great critical and audience feedback. Mairi has toured the show around Scotland and has taken it to London’s Vault Festival.
